Howard Skolnik

Criminal Justice Consultant 

Howard Skolnik is a skilled executive with 45 years of experience in corrections, 41 in management at the State level.  He has eighteen years of experience in Illinois included job and night resident counselor in a halfway house, Pre-release Coordinator including designing and implementing the program, Planning Manager for the Illinois Dangerous Drugs Commission and Superintendent of Prison Industries.  Moving to Nevada in 1987 to develop their prison industry program, he served as Assistant and Deputy Director in the Department of Corrections until being appointed Director in 2007, including time as the Warden of the Southern Desert Correctional Center.  Skolnik has served as President of the Correctional Industries Association, the Western Correctional Industries Association, as well as President of the Business Council of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, President of the Prospectors of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Hall of Fame.  He is Chair of the Advisory Council to the Las Vegas Chapter of the USO.  He is also a member of the Community Advisory Council for KNPR, public radio in Las Vegas.
